XP-Shield Removal Instructions
XP-Shield also mentioned as XPShield is yet another bogus security
application
(rogueware) designed to look like Microsoft related anti-virus program created to mislead computer users.
 XP-Shield is promoted by nasty FakeAV rootkit trojans that infects users via social network and email messages or through malicious drive-by download scripts and corrupted video codecs installed onto hacked websites. After infecting the computer the trojan will show security popups, error messages and fake online scan processes to scare unaware users into downloading XP-Shield trial version. XP-Shield may also be installed via its counterfeit website xpshield.com. Once installed, it will hijack internet browser, alter Windows task manager, registry keys and desktop settings and run a simulated virus detection. The pre-programmed scan will report countless fabricated entries including legitimate system files as threats to scam victims to buy the non-existent paid Version of XP-Shield. The rogue may also track browsing habits and personal data and transmit the stolen information to remote servers for future malicious activities.
Do not remove XP-Shield false positives manually, deleting these files may cause permanent damage to your operating system.
